The voters have spoken out, I think.

It seems that they're not happy with BN.

Actually, I didn't plan to post something about the elections, but the overwhelming result made it an instant headline. I mean, this is the worst performance by BN!

I stayed up till late last night, checking updates online and also going to the living room to watch the news on TV. Apparently, the Malaysiakini main website crashed due to the enormous amount of people surfing it and refreshing. Thank God they had mirror sites functioning. Project Petaling Street also constantly had pings from bloggers announcing the lastest news.

So BN lost five states. Selangor is one of them. I wonder how that will change our lives?

And how could that have happened? Perhaps it's because the young voters are against the BN. As had been said so many times, the youths dominate the cyberworld. And in the Internet, there's tons of information here. None of them follow blindly anymore. And the PM had thought that he'll win big!

I was also quite happy to learn that Jeff Ooi, a blogger, won. This shows that we bloggers are not what the Government thinks we are. And the voters have certainly showed their power! Perhaps now, politicians will try to engage the youths more and try to meet us in cyberspace, instead of the plain old mainstream media.

Yet I felt a tinge of pity for a few politicians in BN who lost. They were really committed, working hard for the benefit of the people. But why did they have to lose? I heard that in an interview, a loser said that she had asked her former constituents about it. Apparently, they still respected her, and would've voted for her still. But it's just that they weren't satisfied with BN, and they had no choice but to vote against her. Although it's unfair, but I agree that she and those few others had to lose. Otherwise, how can there be a better future for us?

A friend of mine is worried. He says what if they change the schooling days? What if they don't bring about development?

We'll just have to wait and see.

Too bad I didn't take photos of the atmosphere at home. A few of Dad's friends from temple came. The house became noisy. Good thing there weren't many kids around.

Now, all there is to see is whether the Opposition fulfils their promises, or whether they'll eat their words.
